Gabriela Montero is outRAAAGEously good.  T says she hasn't heard Rachmaninoff played better, even in Moscow, and I got so scared during Night on Bald Mountain that I almost had to run away.  No wonder she's so popular.

Grass Roots

Tundra or no, they manage to farm Potatoes in Edmonton:
For now, at least. They say the city is thinking of rezoning it for housing development. To get the word out, one of the farmers decided to let people come pick 50lbs of their potatoes each and take them home for free. It seems to have worked.

It's my job to help run the website now, which means putting up pictures of fellow grad students. I wish Sullay would let me use this one.

Edward Gonnella, 1918-2009

All four of my grandparents moved from the American midwest to California to work menial jobs so their kids could live better lives.  We lost the last one today.  I'm glad I got to see him a couple of years ago.  May he rest in peace.

Found Art

I'm not sure I could think of a lovelier way to describe Data.

Incidentally, he's got pretty good shape for $40 O.B.O.:

Obligatory Beatles Lyric Title

The secret to being 1284th best in the world at a video game is to buy it the day it comes out and play it all the way through in one sitting.  With 5 other people helping.

What is this even supposed to look like?

Thanks Wonderland

Cheapass Games (R.I.P.) could probably have charged more for a game I can play with a pendant, a Russian nesting doll, a box of dental floss, and a packet of silica gel.

Fair Market Value

The Farmer's Market!  So great!  If I could buy their foods by the pound, I'd be able to afford only the tiny amount that they're already willing to give me for free.  Done!
