Mud and Dreams expands

Last time I was here, this was a street.

Bargaining

I keep thinking "I'll only smoke while ..." pretty often. Today it was "reading the Epic of Gilgamesh."

DANGER DUE TO: Hopscotch

Don't listen to the giraffe. It's a trap. Also: don't wait even a few days after moving to get health insurance.  Even children's games can lead to expensive ambulance rides.

Ancient Artifacts

So far, the plan to digitize my elementary school play does not appear to have been successful.

Tee hee hee

New camera is in the mail. For now I'll have to make do with juvenille random forest humour.

The Solomon Douglas Swingtet

The Lindy Hop scene in Waterloo looked pretty solid, though it may just have been the live music.

Makeing Blinkybugs

We finally put together the blinkybugs I got for my birthday! Like, my last birthday. They blink!

The Brothel

I took Mii on my latest pilgrimage to the brothel. It looks like some student housing company owns it now, so I guess the Koops won't have to keep fixing the bathtub, and the deathtrap attic staircase has probably been altered. Oh well.

Angie's Brunch

I'd like to get everyone who has a favourite post onto the blog, so I was sad that this was the only usable picture of my new favourite Kryptonian.
She was air-singing 80's songs, too, when I had forgotten my camera. Gah. Anyway, Jason and Chau came for brunch too. But Jason only eats babies.

Lighting

Mii's father measures light, so his shop is full of spheres. She pointed out that they don't have to be spheres, but I guess the shop floors aren't strong enough to hold the kind of mass you'd need to pull all the light into an easy-to-measure point.

Special Volunteers

When you take someone special to your hometown you get to show them all the places you remember from being a kid. But what if they're from your hometown?
It turns out you go by accident to where you sort of met. Just to make sure it was real.

No ATM fees; also world's biggest search engine

God, being back in Waterloo, it's always like this. Your grade school baseball diamond just got replaced by ten solid blocks of RIM buildings, and Google shares a lot with the same cornfield where you first ever kissed a girl.

Shopping in Waterloo

Waterloo has yuppied up since I left, as you can tell by the shopping.  Look at these:They look delicious, right?  But they're DOG FOOD.

The good news is you can also buy delicious local beer.

Not to mention buying houses with sheep:

Ferron is the new Snowclone

This poster is like the Tiger Woods of stupid analogies.

Good News, Better News

The good news is that my brother Andrew, pictured here with Maestro Fresh Wes, found my camera in Waterloo. The better news is that since we're seeing each other in a month, he's not going to bother mailing it out to me in Edmonton. The best news is that he's going to be using my camera to take a picture a day of his own and write his own captions, and if he remembers maybe write his own titles. His posts will be tagged with "A-cam". His first effort, for yesterday, is shown below.

[UPDATE: I called Andrew a lame-o and he told my mom on me so I made fun of him again and now he won't be sending me any more pictures because I'm being, "well, kind of a jerk." Boo!]
